AiM IN-PERSON COURSES
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re back to in-person teaching with our new layout of Anatomy in Motion courses! Whether you’re a returning student or new to our methodology, this immersive program is designed to guide you through five transformative phases, each building on the last to deepen your understanding of human movement. Join us on this exciting journey as we explore everything from foundational principles to advanced biomechanics, helping you master the art of movement from the ground up. Dive in to learn more about each phase and take the next step in your learning journey!
PHASE 1 FINDING CENTRE
Embark on your Anatomy in Motion journey with “Finding Centre”, a largely experiential course that introduces you to the key concepts and principles that underpin the AiM methodology. Over two immersive days, you’ll explore the intricate relationships between the foot, spine, and the entire body through guided, experiential movement. This phase is designed to let the experience create the learning, enabling you to observe, feel, and understand how your body moves and how each part contributes to overall function and efficiency.
Phase 1 “Finding Centre” is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of Anatomy in Motion. This course offers a rich, experiential learning journey that caters to all levels of experience. Over two immersive days, you’ll explore the intricate relationships between the foot, spine, and entire body through guided movement and observation.
Whether you’re building on AiM’s prior online learning or beginning your movement journey as a therapist, “Finding Centre” provides all the experience you need to grasp the core concepts of AiM. You’ll gain a profound awareness of your body’s movement patterns and the essential principles that will support your continued education in the Anatomy in Motion program.
You’ll dive into key AiM concepts such as the 5 Big Rules, Finding Centre, the impact of the foot on the body’s structure, and the foundational principles that set the stage for deeper exploration in subsequent Phases. By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid appreciation of the AiM approach and a newfound awareness of your body’s movement potential.
PHASE 2 Closed Chain Biomechanics of the Human Body
Building on the foundation laid in Phase 1, “Closed Chain Biomechanics of the Human Body” takes you deeper into the mechanics of the human body, with a focus on tri-planar joint motion and the integration of feet, legs, torso, and arms. This course provides a comprehensive and detailed look at how the body’s structures interact in a closed chain environment, where the foot is engaged with the ground, influencing the entire kinetic chain.
In Phase 2 we dive deeper into the joint motions and articulations of each structure in the body to deepen our understanding of how the human body moves in the closed chain. This leads to new understanding of the overlay and role of muscle tissue as we explore how muscles function in response to the bones and joints. This phase is essential for developing a deeper understanding of how the body moves as an integrated whole, setting you up for the more advanced exploration of the gait cycle in Phase 3. Through observation, assessment, and practical application, you’ll enhance your ability to analyze and improve human movement.
Key Takeaways:
– In-depth exploration of tri-planar joint motion and integration.
– Detailed understanding of muscle overlay in closed chain biomechanics.
– Practical application of anatomy and movement concepts.
– Preparation for building out the Flow Motion Model in the Phase 3.
– Our first look into assessing the body in the closed chain.
PHASE 3 The Flow Motion Model
“The Flow Motion Model” is the cornerstone of the Anatomy in Motion curriculum, offering an unparalleled exploration of the human gait cycle. In essence it is what Gary Ward and Anatomy in Motion are known for. Our flagship course takes the anatomical knowledge gained in Phase 2 and invites you to piece together the journey of every single bone and joint through a single footstep in the walking gait cycle. By breaking down the gait cycle into its distinct phases, you’ll gain a deep understanding of how bones and joints move in concert to create efficient, balanced movement. This of course creates the foundation for our high level assessment and interpretation of clients and patients clinical circumstances.
Phase 3 goes beyond observation, incorporating detailed assessment and intervention strategies that will empower you to make informed decisions in your practice. Whether you’re working with clients or enhancing your own movement, this course provides the tools to understand and optimise whole body movement patterns, derived by the model itself. The Flow Motion Model provides a detailed anatomical understanding that complements any existing clinical or bodywork practice, it’s what Gary calls the Truth of Human Movement and naturally leads to improved movement efficiency, reduced risk of injury and a strong healing modality for anyone looking to move from pain to peak performance.
Key Takeaways:
– Comprehensive breakdown of the human gait cycle.
– Application of anatomical insights to dynamic movement.
– Advanced assessment and intervention techniques.
– Mastery of gait analysis for optimised movement and injury prevention and cure.
PHASE 4 The AiM Method
“The AiM Method” is where clinical practice meets advanced movement analysis, taking your skills to the next level. This phase is designed for therapists and practitioners ready to apply their knowledge to a wide range of clients, from elite athletes to general populations. The course equips you with a comprehensive assessment protocol that goes beyond treating symptoms—it’s about uncovering and addressing the root causes of physical issues.
In Phase 4 “The AiM Method” you’ll bring together all the insights and knowledge from the previous phases to create a comprehensive assessment protocol that can be applied to any client or patient. This course is designed to equip you with the tools to understand a person’s physical condition through a detailed assessment of resting, dynamic, and gait-based postures.
This holistic approach allows you to correlate injury history with current movement patterns, giving you the tools to craft targeted interventions that restore optimal movement and well-being. “The AiM Method” represents a significant leap in your practice, empowering you to provide deeper, more effective care for your clients. This phase gives you the confidence to assess and address physical issues with precision, helping to restore optimal movement and overall well-being.
Key Takeaways:
– Advanced clinical practice for diverse populations, from elite athletes to general clients.
– Gait-based approach to understanding and addressing movement challenges.
– Targeted interventions based on the Flow Motion Model.
– Integration of all previous learnings to create optimised movement solutions.
– Empowerment to help anyone Find Centre by restoring missing movements as determined by your AiM Method assessments.
PHASE 5 MASTERY
Our fifth Phase “Mastery” represents the pinnacle of the AiM Finding Centre Program, offering you the opportunity to fully integrate and refine your knowledge through continued learning and community engagement. This phase includes online mentorships, participation in a vibrant AiM community, and access to exclusive retreats, conferences, and ongoing online learning. Accreditation as a recognised AiM Practitioner also forms a part of the Mastery Phase
Phase 5 is designed for practitioners who are committed to evolving their understanding of Anatomy in Motion and staying at the forefront of the field. As a member of this exclusive group, you’ll continue to develop your skills, share insights with peers, and participate in advanced discussions that will push the boundaries of your practice. All 4 phases must be completed on and / or offline to be considered for the Mastery programmes.
Key Takeaways:
– Ongoing mentorship and community engagement.
– Access to exclusive retreats, conferences, and online learning.
– Continuous development as an AiM Practitioner.
– Advanced exploration and application of AiM concepts.
